Dry White Wine
Having chosen White Dry, the classic grape ( or taste ) families are Chardonnay and Sauvignon.
Chardonnay 100% is the grape behind White Burgundy, and thus makes some of the very best dry white wines. It is also the variety in Blanc de Blanc champagne. The taste is delicate straw to delicate melon. Not aromatic.
Sauvignon is the Loire valley's top white grape, responsible for Sancerre and Pouilly Fume. It also, blended 50:50 with Semillon, makes White Bordeaux, Aromatic.
I have to add Riesling, the world's most beautiful grape.
The Riesling is Germany's best grape. It also makes very great wines in Alsace.
Muscadet: after the disastrous winter of 1709, the whole area had to be replanted. The Muscadet grape was chosen for this.
In Italy Soave is a small but beautiful area. Garganega plus Trebbiano make its wine.
